Carlos Dinkens Thomson, Sr. -- 11/12/2009 Carlos Dinkens Thomson, Sr., 87, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. Mr. Thomson was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His parents were the late Jim Thomson and Genie Davis Thomson. During World War II and the Korean Conflict, CMr. Thomson served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. He was an active member of the Monticello First United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of the Jasper Masonic Lodge #50 F&AM, the VFW and the American Legion Post 110. Before retirement, Mr. Thomson was a machinist for 20 years for the Warner Robins Air Force Base. A brother, James Thomson, and sister, Cornelia Thomson, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Doris Boatwright Thomson of Monticello; son and daughter-in-law, Carlos D., Jr. and Teresa Thomson of Monticello; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Bill Slocumb of Monticello; grandchildren, Sabrina Slocumb, Stefanie Thomson, and Frank Christian; and great-grandchild, Hunter James Thomson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at Monticello First United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery. Dr. John Brown will officiate. Pallbearers include Frank Christian, Barry Wyatt, Philip Heard, Don Kelly, Sam Goolsby, Bobby Greer, and Leon Tuggle. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations to the Monticello First United Methodist Church, 651 College Street, Monticello, GA 31064. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
